Kali: A Filipino Martial Art for Kids

The Ancient Filipino Martial Art of Kali

The ancient style of Filipino Kali is a martial art that has developed into one of the most practical and effective systems that has lived on from generation to generation. Historically, it was used by the Filipinos to defend themselves against invaders and rival tribes. The art was entrusted to those who were within the confidence of the master’s family. It wasn’t exclusively taught to just bloodline relations, but those who had been accepted into the tribe. This was especially true later on in the mid-late 20th Century.

Undoubtedly, most will say they should begin as early as they can. To use our bodies to do work, to construct a better and safer environment around us is ingrained in us everyday. The Filipino Martial Arts are a great way to develop coordination and timing, skills useful to everyday life.
